A production engineer at an auto manufacturer of parts such as body, door, and chassis, was in charge of improving production line efficiency. Indicator lamps were installed on safety fences that surround robots and machines so that status of the equipment could be seen at a glance. However, the lamps were installed in different ways causing poor visibility. Also, the types of lamps used on each machine were different, which meant that various replacement spare parts had to be stocked. Furthermore, regular maintenance was cumbersome as many incandescent lamps were still used and required frequent replacement.

By using an IDEC device, the problem with visibility and maintenance was solved. So, what was the solution?

IDEC proposed the use of LH1D Surface Mount Indicators - ø66 Jumbo Dome. The lamp, box, and the cable are integrated into one unit and the LED is highly bright and visible.
By having the size and appearance, the visibility of equipment status has greatly improved. The integrated structure enables reduction of spare parts and is easy to install by screw mounting. Our customer is happy that maintenance time is reduced and is considering standardizing the use of this product.
